The TNFD is delivering a risk management and disclosure framework for organisations to report and act on evolving nature-related risks, which aims to support a shift in global financial flows away from nature-negative outcomes and toward nature-positive outcomes. The TNFD is market-led, science-based and government-endorsed, and consists of a number of institutions and groups that work together to create the framework.
The Green Finance Institute hosts the TNFD Secretariat, supported by UNEP and UNDP. Headed by executive director Tony Goldner, the Secretariat:
- Supports the work of the TNFD Co-Chairs and the 34 Taskforce Members
- Coordinates the TNFD Forum, a consultative grouping of over 400 institutional supporters
- Convenes and directs the TNFD Knowledge Hub of scientific organisations and standard setting bodies
GFI chief executive, Rhian-Mari Thomas is a senior adviser to the TNFD Co-Chairs, David Craig and Elizabeth Mrema.
The Green Finance Institute is also the Convenor of the TNFD UK Consultation Group, one of six consultation groups being activated at a national or regional level to expand outreach and engagement on nature-related business and finance, and the TNFD framework.
More information on the Group can be found here, or by contacting [email protected] for more details. More information about the work of the TNFD can be found on its website here.
